During each workshop, the group will decide on the destination for a sightseeing day trip—perhaps to the walled city of Lucca, or the five picturesque villages of Cinque Terre. Students might explore the marble quarries of Carrara, and visit sculpting and mosaic studios in the internationally reknowned artists' community in the nearby town of Pietrasanta. There will also be an opportunity to shop at one of the region's largest weekly open-air markets, either in Pietrasanta or the popular mediterranean resort town of Forte dei Marmi.
